WHAT WE DO

Since 1981 I have been involved in the asphalt paving industry in Southern California.  I began as an asphalt emulsion plant operator, then worked as an estimator and project manager for jobs that included asphalt driveways, constructing and maintaining parking lots, commercial shopping centers, schools, theme parks, asphalt roads and freeways with Caltrans.

For over 15 years I was the General Manager/Vice President of a large paving contractor based in San Diego and oversaw an estimating/project management team and the construction field office operations.

During this time, I served as an officer on the Board of Directors for the Asphalt Pavement Association of California for seven years.  I was also on the Board of Directors for the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of San Diego for five years.

I am listed on the Caltrans Dispute Resolution Board (DRB/DRA) candidates list and have served as a DRB member and as a DRA in Caltrans District’s 3, 8 and 11.

In 2005 I started Asphalt Management & Consulting providing expert witness testimony in legal matters that involved asphalt pavement surfaces, their construction, and the standard of care.

In 2011 I began doing additional consulting work with Commercial Property Managers and Homeowner Associations, assisting them with their:

  • Asphalt maintenance programs
  • Providing repair and maintenance recommendations
  • Cost estimates
  • Technical specifications
  • Bid packages
  • Inspection for conformance to the specifications.

My many years of experience in the asphalt paving industry has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and understanding of that industry and I truly enjoy helping others in sharing what I have been able to learn.
